What is a carbon footprint anyway? The term "carbon footprint" could be defined as everything that humans do in their daily lives that produces carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases.
Humans produce greenhouse gases in a lot of ways every day - driving - turning on the lights - turning on the water (especially hot water) – using anything that needs electricity. These activities, on a global scale, all contribute to global warming. When we talk about reducing our carbon footprint, we are talking about being more mindful about the way we live and the resources that we use. If we find ways to reduce our energy usage, ways to use alternative forms of energy, or recycle the things that we use, we can reduce our impact on the environment.
This site is not all about 'doom and gloom.' Instead, it's about simple things that you can do in your home or office right now to make a difference. It's about raising awareness and providing information. There are a lot of suggestions on this site and it's unrealistic to think that everyone will be able to do them all or do them immediately. The take home message here is to do what you can, when you can do it.
